From old rusty van to warm cosy home

Over the last few months I’ve been working non stop on converting a van (LDV Convoy) into my home. I hope to undertake travel, exploration and constant adventure in this super micro-home vehicle. It is pretty much finished now and I am nearly ready to go and explore Europe.

I have been documenting this project on another site, Vandog Traveller. Let me show you what I’ve been up to…

This is inside my van. I build it up from a panel van. It has everything to live more than comfortably:

  • shower
  • toilet
  • fridge
  • studio monitors
  • 200W solar charging system
  • 240V sockets (pure sine)
  • fold out bed sleeps 2
  • hammock for several people (sleeps one)
  • hot water on demand
  • sink
  • gas cooker
  • loads of storage
  • and a bookshelf

And… apologies to all the people who have emailed through this site over the past few months. You can probably see my head has been completely in this project – tunnel vision. I’ll be paying some needed attention to JP over the next few weeks/months and sorting a few things out.

  • Hi, this is a greeting from China. You rock! I admire what you’ve done, which takes courage and creativity. I have had some cool and crazy ideas that are similar with yours, but I never take it into reality. You give me the courage to pursuit what I truly want.
